My 2025 Wrapped

2025 was a great year for my career where I transitioned from an Undergrad student to pursuing my Master’s. These are some of my accomplishments:

Studies

I graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 in English Literature with Creative Writing.
I began my NCTJ-Qualified Masters in News Journalism at Cardiff University.
My project in the module ‘Representing Race in Contemporary America’ achieved a first (78%). This project included a letter, a comparative essay, and a podcast, which is being saved to teach the next year’s cohort.

I did a one-week work experience placement with the South Wales Argus where I got published in print and online, writing about topics involving the charity ‘Cynefin Pamoja‘ and interviewing Al Jazeera’s Adrian Finighan.
I wrote for the Iris Prize, including many interviews and an extended piece with Sobia Bushra, the director of ‘Trailblazers‘.
I freelanced for Culture Cardiff reporting on charity events by organisations like Age Alive and Cynefin Pamoja and on touring West End Shows.
I have written for various other organisations including HotSource Magazine, Cardiffian, Unifresher, Quench, Gair Rhydd, and The Tab.

I interned with the Iris Prize for several months, honing my skills in writing, marketing, co-ordinating with filmmakers, and learning new skills in packaging DCPs.
I was a juror for the categories of ‘Community, Education, and Micro-Shorts’, deciding the three winners.

I continued in my role of President of Cardiff University’s Pride society finishing the 24/25 academic year with over 150 members and achieving over 140 members at the end of 2025.
I created two new initiatives for the society including ‘Learn with Pride’, to spread awareness about different LGBT+ related issues, including leading an Anti-Homophobia Discussion.
The second initiative was the ‘CU COLORRS’ Initiative which is led by another committee member to create a safe space for those at the Intersection of coming from an ethnic minority background and being LGBT+.
CU Pride was shortlisted for ‘Society of the Month’ for October.

For the 2024/25 Academic year I was the ‘Culture Director’ of my University’s Television Station.
I worked on various projects including co-producing a documentary on mental health in women’s sports.

I contributed to my station winning Silver in the Multi-media category for work on several projects.
I contributed to my station winning the third best student broadcasting channel in the country.

CU Pride won ‘Best Newcomer’ for providing a safe space for LGBT+ students on campus.
‘More than just a Game’, the documentary I co-produced, won ‘Best Coverage of a student led activity’.
CUTV won ‘Best Student Media Group’.
I was shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ Award.

‘More than just a Game’ won ‘Best Project’ at Cardiff Uni’s Student Media Awards.
‘More than just a Game’ was shortlisted for ‘Best Long Form Video’.
The ‘Transgender Liberation Protest’ won best social media video.
I was shortlisted for ‘Best Presenter’.

I was a Student Mentor supporting new students at Cardiff University advising first-years.
I was a Global Opportunities Ambassador, supporting International Students.

I interviewed students on behalf of the Times Graduate Survey, winning two awards for reaching 25 first in my cohort and conducting the most interviews (11) in the first day.
I revamped my own magazine, Grey Bear Culture Magazine putting together a team.
I began a successful freelancing career.

I became an ambassador for ‘Just Like Us’ an LGBT+ Charity.
I sat as a panellist for Cynefin Pamoja, speaking about my experiences in journalism.
I attended a meeting with the former Mayor of Solihull alongside BSL Silver to talk about their work with the defa community.
